Nelson Dikes-Dikes Modifications

Location: Nelson Reservoir, 20 miles NE of Malta, MT

Major Components of Work: Dewatering of the outlet works on the 2 dikes through installation of 25-foot deep cased wells around the excavation areas, unwatering of foundation, demolition of existing concrete outlets, furnishing and placing cast-in-place structural concrete outlet tunnels and headwalls, riprap, furnishing and placing zoned earthfill materials, installing new toe drains along the toe of each dike, gravel surfacing of existing roads. Johnson-Wilson Constructors, Inc. self-performed 98% of the work and subcontracted 2%.
